Airports
If you are flying in for the Bat Mitzvah, there are 3 airports within a 2 hour drive of Virginia Beach:
Norfolk International (ORF), is the closest at about 30 miles away. There are 6 airlines that fly into ORF: Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, and United. It is about a $25 Uber ride to the Oceanfront.
Newport News-Williamsburg (PHF) is the next closest (about 60 miles) and is only serviced by Delta and American airlines. It is about a $55 Lyft ride to the Oceanfront.
Richmond International (RIC) is about 100 miles away. Allegiant, American, Delta, Jet Blue, Southwest, Spirit and United fly into RIC. Although it is the furthest, frequently it is significantly cheaper than the other two airports.
Hotels
There is a block of rooms set aside at the Doubletree by Hilton Virginia Beach. This hotel is about a mile away. The group rate is $103 per night.
Things To Do
There are many things to do in the Hampton Roads area. Everything from visiting The Virginia Aquarium, to touring the battleship USS Wisconsin, to taking in an art show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, to indoor skydiving.
The Oceanfront has a three mile long boardwalk with hotels, restaurants, and shops. You can rent a bicycle for a couple of hours, walk the boardwalk, or dip your feet into the sand and Atlantic Ocean.
There are typically festivals and other events that take place on the Boardwalk each weekend. With the current pandemic situation, many things have been cancelled or changed. For up-to-date info, click here to see whats happening.
